What a great night of racing at the Big "O" tonight! First time I've ever been there, where they had to dry the track and it never rained. During the SBS feature the 23 of Barry Kingsley took a HARD shot into the water barrels in the front stretch. Water and barrels where flying everywhere! Starter Bruce Lee sure could have used a raincoat! Barry was able to climb from the car unhurt.
Bentley Warren, "The King of Supermodifieds", made his 1st race of the season getting the car ready for Classic. Ben seemed to struggle with the car all night, and never was a serious challenge having to qualify thru the consi. It was good to see him behind the wheel once again.
Once again Rookie Dave Danzer had a great run going tonight in the 52, battling with the top contenders to try to get his first win. This guy has got what it takes, and I expect big things from him in the future. Keep your eye on him for sure next week and during the Classic.
After a convincing win in his heat, it looked as if Dave McKnight and team had finally shook off the demons from the last couple weeks. But problems with the car in the feature, had him pulling in the pits nose first with a disappointing 22nd place finish. Joey Payne and Ray Graham Jr. also had troubles tonight and managed finishes of 19th and 23rd respectively.
The points battle looks to be shaping up to be a 3 way battle going into the final points race of the season next week. Joe Gosek, Randy Ritskes, and Otto Sitterly have been racing clean and hard for every position, as I 'm sure they know how valuable each point is going into next Saturday's run for the Championship.
